THE STRONG WOMAN

She was a strong woman

From Irish stock

Her belief in god

Was unshakable

She grew in a strange land far

From her native home

In a new culture

With new ways

An only child

Her parents struggled

To give her a new life

In the land she now

Called home

She married

Produced 11 children

10 survived

It then become

Her struggle                                                 

To give them all she could

She lived and worked

Till they were all grown?

And finding their own way

In life

She then settled to

 Take pleasure in

Her twilight years

Enjoying family gatherings

Strong bonds with her children

And grand children

As her grandchildren grew

They gave her great grand children

She passed on in her adopted land

Age had wearied her bones yet

She was that same strong woman
